Rudy Gobert ripped for getting 'embarrassed' by Nikola Jokic

Despite winning four Defensive Player of the Year Awards, Rudy Gobert has been constantly ridiculed by both active and former players.

Gobert's performance against the Nuggets in Tuesday's Game 5 reinforced why he's never gained the respect of his peers.

During the halftime break when Nikola Jokic had 19 of his 40 points, Draymond Green explained on "Inside the NBA" on TNT why Gobert stood no chance of stopping Jokic.

"BBQ chicken is happening," Green said of Gobert guarding Jokic. "This is the matchup everyone wanted to see — DPOY versus MVP — and Gobert doesn't stand a chance. The problem he's having is Jokic is giving him the body and all the footwork. Jokic is bringing him out to the floor, moving him all around the court, backing him down and [dominating]."

After watching Gobert's postgame presser, Green had a lot more to say.

"Jokic showed he doesn't fear him. He embarrassed the hell of of Rudy Gobert tonight," Greens said. "...The big Frenchman is sitting on that podium, speaking his native language — 'we, we, we need to do this.' No — you, you, you need to get a stop. Karl-Anthony Towns is actually doing a good job on Joker. It's you, my man, who's getting cooked."

Gobert was assigned the Herculean task of guarding Jokic one-on-one Tuesday. After Minnesota blitzed Jokic for nearly all of Game 4 — when Aaron Gordon and Jamal Murray got going — it switched up its defensive coverage, asking Gobert to go solo in guarding the three-time MVP.

Several others took the opportunity to slander Gobert.
